Memphis rapper BlocBoy JB will be back in court March 22 to address drug and weapons charges.

The rapper, whose legal name is James Baker, is charged with theft of property under $1,000, possession of marijuana with intent to manufacture, deliver or sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and being a felon in possession of a handgun.

According to the affidavit of complaint, on July 26, 2018, detectives with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant that named Baker at a house on South Walnut Bend Road.

After a forced entry, the report said, the detectives found several people inside the house who were retained without incident. During a search of the property, detectives found 45.9 grams of marijuana in a Mason jar, and two plastic bags, one with 2.6 grams of marijuana and another with 0.5 grams of marijuana.

A total of 51 grams of marijuana was found at the house, the affidavit said.

The search also yielded three black digital scales with marijuana residue, ammunition, six firearms, including three Glocks and a Ruger. One of the Glocks was stolen and had a value of $550, the report said.

Baker, 22, waived his rights and in a recorded statement said the marijuana belonged to him and that he had knowledge of the guns inside the house, the affidavit said.

The investigators checked the records and verified that Baker had been convicted in 2017 on felony a drug charge.

Baker was released with charges pending, but “has not fulfilled his agreements with SCSO detectives,” the affidavit said.

The sheriff’s office asked for help in locating him Feb. 16. Baker turned himself in to authorities Feb. 28.

Aaron Neglia, said Baker now lives in California and had business and family obligations to address there. He believes the charges against Baker will be dismissed.

Baker collaborated with Drake on “Look Alive” in 2018 and is scheduled to perform this May at the Beale Street Music Festival.

He also filed a lawsuit against the makers of the video game “Fortnite” in January alleging his “Shoot” dance was used without permission.
