Memphis rapper BlocBoy JB was arrested Thursday on theft, marijuana and a gun charge and turned himself in, accompanied by legal counsel, to a judge.

The rapper, whose name is James Baker, surrendered himself to General Sessions Court Judge Ronald Lucchesi on warrants for theft of property under $1,000, possession of marijuana with intent to manufacture, deliver or sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and a charge of being a felon in possession of a handgun.

His bond was set at $50,000 and he is expected to be released later on Thursday, said former attorney Aaron Neglia.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office asked for help locating Baker on Feb. 16. However, Neglia said Baker was in California, where he now lives, and needed to take care of family and business obligations before returning to Memphis.

“He’s got a large family. He’s got a mother, younger and older siblings and he’s the sole provider,” Neglia said.

Aaron Neglia would not discuss the details of the case but did say law enforcement executed a warrant at Baker’s mother’s home. Neglia said Baker wasn’t there and no longer lives there.

“We’re very confident that the charges will be dismissed once we sit down with the prosecutors,” Aaron Neglia said.

Baker, 22, who collaborated with Drake on “Look Alive” in 2018, is slated to perform this May at the Beale Street Music Festival.

Baker filed a lawsuit against the makers of the video game “Fortnite” in January alleging his “Shoot” dance was used without permission.
